Senior Electrical Design Engineer | 12-Month Contract + Possible Extension

NES Fircroft is currently recruiting an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a major resources and infrastructure organisation delivering a significant portfolio of projects across Western Australia.

This opportunity will see you working across major studies and capital projects from concept and FEED through detailed design and execution, with a strong focus on HV/LV distribution, substations, switchrooms and industrial electrical systems.

You will join an established multidisciplinary engineering team and take ownership of key electrical design deliverables across large-scale mining and infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

- $90–$100 per hour, depending on experience
- 12-month contract with potential extension
- Monday to Friday | 5:2 roster
- Approx. 45 hours per week
- Major WA resources and infrastructure projects
- Strong long-term project pipeline
- Exposure across studies, FEED, detailed design and execution

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver concept, FEED and detailed electrical engineering.
- Design HV and LV electrical distribution systems.
- Support the design and integration of substations and switchrooms.
- Prepare electrical calculations, load lists, equipment lists and datasheets.
- Complete cable sizing, cable schedules and associated design documentation.
- Support electrical protection system design and integration.
- Undertake lighting and lightning protection calculations.
- Prepare equipment specifications and requisition packages.
- Manage electrical equipment packages through procurement and vendor delivery.
- Complete technical clarifications,



bid evaluations and recommendations.
- Review vendor drawings, technical documentation and equipment data.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing and equipment inspections.
- Review 3D models, layouts, general arrangements and construction drawings.
- Resolve technical queries throughout design and project execution.
- Work closely with mechanical, civil, structural, instrumentation and controls teams.
- Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, Safety in Design, constructability and technical reviews.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and project specifications.
- Deliver electrical engineering scope within agreed budgets and schedules.

About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Around 10+ years’ electrical engineering experience.
- Experience with substations and switchrooms.
- Strong experience within mining, resources, minerals processing or heavy industry.
- Demonstrated experience across concept design, FEED and detailed design.
- Strong HV and LV electrical distribution experience.
- Experience with substations and switchrooms.
- Strong knowledge of electrical protection systems, cabling and equipment selection.
- Experience preparing engineering calculations,



datasheets and technical specifications.
- Experience managing electrical equipment and vendor packages.
- EPC, EPCM or owner-side project experience.
- Solid understanding of relevant Australian Standards.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
