Senior Electrical Engineer – Reliability

I'm working with a major mining operation in WA that's looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Reliability team. This is a key technical leadership position where you'll act as the site's electrical subject matter expert, supporting the secure, reliable and efficient operation of a large-scale processing plant.

The Role

This isn't a design role.

It's about applying solid engineering judgement in a live operational environment. You'll work closely with maintenance, utilities and operational teams, leading fault-finding activities, troubleshooting complex issues, reviewing vendor reports and helping drive the plant's reliability strategy.

The role has three direct reports and would suit someone who enjoys mentoring engineers while still remaining hands-on with technical problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as the site's electrical technical authority and key SME.
- Lead electrical fault finding, investigations and root cause analysis activities.
- Identify reliability risks and implement improvement initiatives across the plant.
- Review vendor reports, technical studies and engineering recommendations.
- Support shutdown planning and execution activities.




- Prioritise workload and provide guidance to a team of Electrical Engineers.
- Maintain compliance with WA statutory and electrical safety requirements.

Key Experience

- Degree qualified Electrical Engineer.
- Strong operational experience within mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial environments.
- Experience supporting fixed plant operations and maintenance teams.
- Strong troubleshooting, reliability and root cause analysis capability.
- Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
- Exposure to power distribution and generation systems would be advantageous.

The roster is a genuine family-friendly 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO from Perth, and the package is strong, with a base salary of $170k-$190k + Super, a 10% site uplift and a 20% STI bonus, taking the on-target package to approximately $250k-$275k+. Based on the discussions I've had around the role, they're particularly interested in people who've come up through operational processing plant environments rather than purely project-based backgrounds.
