About Byron Beef Jerky

Byron Beef Jerky is a family-owned food manufacturing business based in the Bangalow area. Operating since 2011, we produce a range of premium meat snacks including Beef Jerky, Biltong and Beef Sticks.

We are a small, friendly team with a strong focus on quality, food safety and doing things properly. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for reliable and positive people to join our production team.

We potentially have several positions available for the right candidates.

About the Role

We are looking for Production Assistants to work across our manufacturing facility.

Depending on the needs of the business and your strengths, you may work in raw production, packing, or across multiple areas of the facility.

This will start as a casual position with the opportunity to move to permanent employment. Approximately 38 hours per week across five days is very standard for our production team, and we are looking for people who want consistent, ongoing employment.

Our normal production week is Monday to Friday. Depending on the area you are working in, shifts generally start between 5:00 am and 9:00 am and finish between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.

Production does not always finish at exactly the same time each day, so some flexibility is required. There may be occasions where the team needs to stay longer to complete production, cleaning or other essential tasks before finishing for the day.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a hands-on production role, and your duties may include:

- Preparing and handling raw meat
- Weighing ingredients and following recipes and production specifications
- Mixing and marinating products
- Loading and unloading trays, racks and production equipment
- Operating production machinery and equipment
- Packing finished products
- Labelling and checking finished goods
- Carrying out product and quality checks
- Following food safety, hygiene and allergen-control procedures
- Completing production and traceability records
- Moving ingredients, packaging and finished goods around the facility
- Cleaning and sanitising your own work area,



equipment and other areas of the production facility as required
- Assisting with stock movement and general production tasks
- Supporting other members of the production team when required
- Performing other reasonable duties that are required to keep a busy food production facility running effectively

Previous food manufacturing, production, warehousing, butchery or similar experience is valuable but not essential.

A forklift licence or experience operating production equipment would also be highly regarded.

What the Working Environment Is Actually Like

We think it is important that applicants understand what the job involves before applying.

This is a genuine food-production role — not an office or retail position.

You will regularly be handling raw meat.

The production environment is generally around 8°C, and areas of the factory can be cold, wet and noisy.

You will spend most of your shift standing and working on your feet.

Some tasks can be repetitive, particularly during larger production or packing runs.

There is physical work involved, including moving tubs, cartons, trays, ingredients and products,



although regular extremely heavy lifting is not a major part of the position.

Cleaning and sanitation are also an important part of everyone's job. Maintaining a clean facility is integral to producing safe, high-quality food, and all team members are expected to contribute.

Food Safety & Quality

Food safety is integral to everything we do.

You will be expected to take hygiene, cleanliness, allergen controls, traceability and production procedures seriously.

Training will be provided, but we are looking for people who understand that in food manufacturing, doing the job correctly is just as important as doing it quickly.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will need:

- The ability to reliably work Monday to Friday
- Availability for shifts commencing as early as 5:00 am
- Flexibility around finish times when production requirements demand it
- Your own reliable vehicle
- A current driver's licence
- Australian working rights that allow you to work the hours required for the position
- The ability to comfortably work in a chilled production environment
- The ability to handle raw meat regularly
- The ability to perform the physical and standing requirements of the role
