Assistant Accountant
Head Office - Wetherill Park NSW | $70,000 - $80,000 + Super | 38 hrs/week

A well-established Australian organisation within the resource recovery, transport and environmental services sector is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its Corporate Finance team.

The Position n

Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager, the Assistant Accountant will support the finance team in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end processes.

This position is suited to someone who enjoys working in a structured finance environment, is highly organised and can manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

n

You will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting functions while supporting the wider finance team across reporting, compliance and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities n

n
- Assist with month-end reporting, journals and reconciliations
n
- Support the preparation of management reports and financial analysis
n
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
n
- Assist with Fixed Asset Register maintenance and depreciation processing
n
- Support BAS, GST and PAYG preparation activities
n
- Investigate account variances and assist in resolving discrepancies
n
- Assist with external audit and year-end reporting requirements
n




- Support financial process improvements and reporting enhancements
n
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial data
n
- Provide general accounting support to the wider finance team
n

About You n

This role will suit an accounting professional who enjoys working independently, takes pride in accuracy and can perform effectively within tight reporting deadlines.

You will be proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable managing a high volume of manual processes while maintaining high standards of financial integrity.

Skills & Experience n

n
- Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
n
- CPA/CA studies commenced or intention to commence highly regarded
n
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
n
- Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations and financial analysis
n
- Good understanding of accounting principles and balance sheet concepts
n
- Ability to meet tight month-end deadlines and work under pressure
n
- Comfortable working with manual processes and large data sets
n
- Solid attention to detail and analytical capability
n
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
n

n

Industry experience within transport, logistics, waste management or related sectors will be highly regarded.
