About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, Delivery - the System Integration Manager will provide strategic leadership across the design, procurement, delivery, commissioning, system integration and operational compliance of SCADA, controls, IT, cybersecurity and energy management systems on Volta's large-scale HV infrastructure, renewable energy, data centre and grid-connection projects.

This is a senior technical leadership role for someone who possesses deep expertise in industrial control systems, SCADA, enterprise information technology, power and energy management systems, and network communications. Ideally, this technical knowledge will be combined in a person who has a passion for collaboration and building high-performing teams. You will ensure that SCADA and automation infrastructure meets EPC project specifications, Generator Performance Standards (GPS),



AEMO requirements, TNSP/DNSP interface guidelines and cybersecurity standards. Leading a dedicated engineering team and specialist subcontractors, you'll work across tendering, engineering, construction, commissioning, system integration and Operations and Maintenance to mitigate technical risk, manage supplier deliverables and ensure seamless integration between power plant controllers (PPCs), OEM equipment and market dispatch systems.

This role will be primarily based in Clayton (Project Delivery headquarters), working from our Melbourne CBD (headquarters) office or project site when required.

What You'll Do

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and line-manage a dedicated team of SCADA and System Integration engineers delivering multiple concurrent HV infrastructure and renewable energy projects, setting performance expectations, allocating deliverables and managing resourcing. Foster a safety-focused, collaborative culture of continuous improvement.

Engineering Standards & Reporting: Share technical knowledge and standardise design and operational methodologies across the broader Engineering team, and regularly report on portfolio-wide progress, risks and milestones to executive management and key stakeholders.

Systems Design & Architecture: Lead the development and continuous improvement of technology systems focussing on basis of design, control logic, block diagrams and conceptual architectures for tendering and execution whilst ensuring alignment with other engineering disciplines, power systems modelling, EPC requirements and grid connection parameters.

System Integration: Identify interface requirements and integration points between plant SCADA, control systems, OEM equipment (inverters, trackers, substations, weather stations, PQMs), market dispatch systems (AEMO EMMS, energy forecasting) and network service providers (TNSPs/DNSPs).

Technical Review: Review, assess and approve engineering calculations, signal lists, HMI screen arrangements, control algorithms and technical documentation prepared internally or by third parties.

Tender & Procurement: Identify where specialist third-party support is needed, prepare SCADA, communications and cybersecurity RFPs, and work with suppliers during tendering to select systems that balance budget, functionality and compliance. Support Contract Management to draft, negotiate and place contracts and purchase orders for SCADA, CCTV, market dispatch and IT sub-systems.

Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor delivery programs, monitor deliverable schedules and milestones, approve payment claims, and maintain robust quality assurance controls across hardware and software procurement.

Commissioning & Testing: Lead the overall commissioning and system integration strategy with the Commissioning Manager, site and O&M; team, overseeing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)



and end-to-end testing with AEMO and TNSPs, and developing ITPs and ITCs to manage quality throughout testing.

Grid Connection Support: Support the Grid Connection team through R1 registration, hold point testing and R2 generator compliance validation testing, including FCAS and voltage/frequency control.

Technical Escalation: Act as the go-to escalation point for critical SCADA, controls and IT troubleshooting, minimising generation loss and downtime.

HSE & Quality Leadership: Embed Safety in Design principles across all related designs, ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, and uphold quality standards across every lifecycle phase through regular site visits and factory inspections.

Handover & Continuous Improvement: Oversee accurate handover of system documentation, user manuals, as-built drawings and red-line mark ups to facilitate O&M; and identify and drive improvements to project systems and delivery.

About You

You're a strategic, hands-on technical leader who enjoys building teams and seeing complex systems from design through to handover. You are comfortable navigating technical complexity, managing competing priorities and working across disciplines and geographically dispersed teams. Above all, you're solutions-focused, build strong relationships, and bring new ideas to life through practical knowledge. We'd particularly like to hear from candidates who bring:

A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, Automation & Control, IT or a related discipline.

8+ years' experience in SCADA, automation and control systems design, commissioning and management on utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS).

Delivery experience within the regulated and non-regulated utility industry, specifically HV substations with a focus on SCADA and protection and control systems.

Proven leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams and specialist subconsultants / contractors.

In-depth experience with leading SCADA platforms (e.g. Siemens WinCC, Wonderware, Ignition, Ovation) and PLC/RTU environments.

Strong knowledge of network design, industrial communications architecture and cybersecurity frameworks for critical infrastructure.

Experience with power system integration, AEMO registration and compliance processes, and TNSP interface requirements within the National Electricity Market (NEM).

Experience managing cybersecurity systems, ideally with the Australian Energy Sector Cyber Security Framework (AESCSF).

In-depth knowledge of SOCI requirements specifically related to HV utility installations, renewables facilities and data centres.

Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification will be highly regarded.

The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and implement new ideas and systems, supported by solid general administration skills.

Valid Australian work rights, a current Australian Driver's Licence and a Construction Safety White Card. Flexibility to travel interstate or regional as needed for project and business requirements.
