Heavy industry & old machines. Recent minds. Geminum makes physical AI for heavy industry work. We use modern processes and technology to make heavy industry safer for the people in it, and more productive with the machines it already has.

We build live digital twins of industrial sites and give autonomy for the machines that work in them.

We're a small, senior team shipping production software and hardware into operating industrial sites. We move fast, we learn fast. We value transparency, pragmatism and ownership.

The role

You'll own the application and data layers of our platform, from the edge to the cloud to the apps people use on site. The work is full stack, weighted toward backend, data and infrastructure. You'll also spend part of each week on prototypes and R&D.;

What we're looking for

- Production experience with TypeScript and Node, and with system design. You've designed a backend and run it in production yourself
- Event-driven systems and streaming data (Kafka or similar), including time-series data at volume
- React and a modern React framework (TanStack, Nestj.js, Next.js, Hono or similar). You build the interface as well as the API behind it
- Proficient use of coding agents, strong understanding and up to date with modern agentic development ways of working, with the habit of reviewing and testing everything they produce
- Software that keeps working on unreliable networks, on servers and on devices
- Designing for failure. You work out how a system fails and what breaks downstream when it does
- You make decisions with incomplete information and finish work without close supervision

- Rust, C++
- Python
- Industrial and OT systems: OPC UA, PLCs, ROS 2, and OT security (IEC 62443)
- IoT Greengrass
- Time-series and graph databases, and designs that span more than one kind of store
- Desktop or mobile app development
- Integrating with enterprise systems such as ERP and maintenance platforms
- Kubernetes
- 3D, simulation or real-time streaming tools (NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, WebRTC, game engines)
- AWS, infrastructure as code (CDK, Terraform or similar), and CI/CD you've set up yourself
- Work in audited or highly regulated environments

What this is not It isn't a front-end-only role or an operations role, not a LLM wrapper role, and it isn't machine-learning, computer-vision or 3D work.

The setup

- Remote. You can work Australian business hours, or US hours with enough overlap with the AU day for daily meetings. AU preferred.
- Six-month contract, renewable. The programme runs into the second half of 2027, and the role can become permanent.
- Starting October.
- Competitive rate, based on your experience and location.
