About the chance

Thomas Frost Executive is partnering with a major bank to appoint a Vice President / Senior Associate to its in-house Mergers & Acquisitions team in Melbourne.

The team executes the group's strategy directly, working on acquisitions, divestments, simplification and portfolio decisions. It works closely with the CFO, Executive Committee and board, and briefs external advisers on major transactions.

This is a chance to move to the principal side of M&A.; You'll keep working on sophisticated transactions while gaining genuine strategic influence, senior visibility and a long-term career path within a leading financial institution.

The role

- Execute M&A; transactions end to end, across both buy side and sell side
- Build and review financial models, valuations and transaction analysis
- Quickly develop a deep understanding of the businesses involved in each transaction
- Prepare materials for senior executives, the Executive Committee and the board
- Manage external advisers, including investment banks, lawyers and accountants
- Work with business leaders across the group on strategic initiatives
- Mentor and develop junior team members

About you
- 6 to 10 years of experience in M&A;, investment banking or corporate development
- Strong execution experience across the full M&A; process
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills




- Strong commercial judgement, and able to think clearly under pressure
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and minimal guidance

Financial institutions experience is welcome but not essential. Strong generalist M&A; bankers are encouraged to apply. Suitable backgrounds include bulge bracket and boutique investment banks, in-house M&A; or corporate development teams, and private equity candidates with investment banking training.

The role is based in Melbourne, and the team works predominantly in the office. We're also keen to hear from strong analysts with 2 to 3 years in investment banking, valuations, transaction services, institutional banking or private equity, for a second opportunity in the same team.
