We are looking for support staff in Bendigo and Castlemaine who can fill a variety of shifts, including evenings, early mornings, occasional overnights and weekends. Previous nursing experience/studies or experience supporting people with complex health needs would be highly desirable. Higher rates paid for complex work.

The role





To support people in their day-to-day living, ensuring that they have maximum opportunities to build their capacity to develop independent living skills and develop socially valued lives/roles and natural connections. Support workers will be clear that their professional engagement with participants is concerned with generating quality roles for the people they support by taking a 'walk alongside' approach to the support they provide rather than a 'doing for' approach. They will provide opportunities for choice, self-advocacy and participation in matters relating to the home as well as facilitating access to community services and facilities. To support the participant with all aspects of everyday living – personal care, washing, cleaning, laundry, preparing and cooking meals, shopping and attending appointments.

Preference given to applicants who:

Are reliable and able to commit to their role.

Are good decent humans who are committed to making a difference.

Have an eye for detail and show initiative.

Have prior experience working with complex participants.

Have at least 20 hours available per week to commit to the role and are open to doing the occasional overnight (although this can be negotiated for the right person)

Have a car with full comprehensive insurance and a VIC driver's license.

Must possess reliable personal transport with comprehensive insurance coverage as this is an essential requirement for the role.

Australian work authorisation is required for this position.
