BPSM Architects is seeking an accomplished qualified to join our Hobart studio as a Director and help shape the next chapter of our long-established Tasmanian practice. This senior leadership role combines strategic direction, people leadership, business management and project oversight. It offers an experienced professional the opportunity to influence practice culture, strengthen client relationships and maintain the high standards that underpin our work.

Key responsibilities

- Provide visible leadership across strategy, people, projects and practice operations.
- Drive business planning, client development, marketing and improvement initiatives.
- Lead, mentor and develop staff, fostering a collaborative, accountable and supportive studio culture.
- Oversee project delivery, resourcing, fees, contracts, risk, quality and regulatory compliance.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, consultants, government stakeholders and industry partners.
- Champion design quality, documentation standards, sustainable practice and continuous improvement.
- Contribute sound commercial judgement, strategic design thinking and practical problem-solving across the practice.

About you

- Substantial relevant professional experience, ideally within architecture, design, construction or consulting.
- Proven leadership,



team development and relationship management capability.
- Strong commercial awareness, financial judgement and understanding of project and practice management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, organisation and decision-making skills.
- Strategic thinking, attention to detail and a commitment to quality, professionalism and continuous learning.
- Relevant qualifications in business, management or related directorship or management role will be highly regarded but are not essential where the core leadership and business capabilities are demonstrated.
