Role Overview: Senior NPD Technologist – Flexible Ad-Hoc Consultancy

- Location: 100% Remote / Work from your preferred location across Australia
- Engagement Type: Project-based, ad-hoc professional consultant engagement ( Not full-time, not part time )

We are seeking a senior-level New Product Development and Food Technology consultant for flexible, project-based engagements. In this role, you will lead and manage NPD projects from brief and concept through formulation, validation, commercialization, and launch support.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide expert technical advice on formulation, food safety, regulatory compliance, labelling, specifications, shelf life, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Review recipes, BOMs, product specifications, NIPs, ingredient declarations, and technical documentation.
- Support factory trials and scale-up through remote technical coordination with clients and manufacturers.
- Interpret sensory, shelf-life, laboratory, and technical data to provide practical recommendations.
- Collaborate seamlessly with clients, suppliers, laboratories, QA, production, procurement, and commercial stakeholders.

About You (Qualifications & Experience)

- Degree or higher in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Senior-level food industry experience, ideally 5+ years, with strong hands-on NPD / Product Technologist experience.




- Proven end-to-end product development and commercialization experience.
- Strong formulation, food chemistry, sensory, and product troubleshooting capability.
- Strong knowledge of FSANZ requirements, food labelling, HACCP, and GMP.
- Experience with recipes, specifications, BOMs, NIPs, technical reports, and shelf-life principles.
- Strong project ownership, analytical thinking, and commercial awareness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and deliver practical solutions remotely.
- Experience in FMCG, chilled/RTE foods, ready meals, functional foods, sports nutrition, supplements, or contract manufacturing is highly regarded.
