The Lions Eye Institute (LEI) is one of Australia’s largest and most respected eye clinics and vision research centres, caring for over 60,000 patients annually. Located in Nedlands, our flagship clinic also houses Western Australia’s premier refractive surgery centre, Lions Laser Vision, and a Day Surgery Unit performing more than 8,000 surgeries each year.

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Ophthalmic Assistant to support our expanding clinical team. In this role, you will work closely with ophthalmologists, orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct visual acuity (VA) and intraocular pressure (IOP) checks (iCare tonometer)
- Assist with procedures, including intravitreal injections and minor procedures
- Perform Humphrey Visual Fields and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Conduct biometry using IOL Master and Optos fundus photography (including FFA)
- Provide post-operative support and patient education
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines to ensure seamless patient care
- Provide administration and reception support as needed

Essential Criteria

- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills




- Competent computer skills and electronic medical record (EMR) literacy
- Flexibility to adapt to clinical needs and changing schedules

Desirable Criteria

- Cert IV in Optical Dispensing
- Previous experience in an ophthalmology clinic or optometry practice
- Experience as a dispensing optician welcomed
