**The Admission Coordination Unit is also responsible for providing high level advice in response to matters raised by oversight agencies and other stakeholders (including the Queensland Police Service) in relation to young people being held in watchhouses.

As Senior Practice Officer, Admission Coordination Unit, you will specifically:

- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Undertake the daily prioritisation process and assist the youth detention centres in the coordination of admissions.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders about a range of matters impacting young people in watchhouses, including urgent risks associated with individual young people, youth detention and/or watchhouse capacity issues, operational and transport considerations.




- Conduct detailed court outcome forecasting for young people remanded by a court and share this information with key stakeholders to optimise bed capacity across the centres and reduce time spent in watchhouses, and to inform colllaboration with YDC and Regional stakeholders to identify and support expedited resolution of court matters where appropriate.
- Provide expert advice, correspondence, briefs and reports and support a range of internal and external stakeholders in relation to queries about young people in watchhouses and associated processes.
- Identify, develop, and analyse operational and practice issues, contribute to projects and develop policy, procedural and practice support solutions.
- Represent and negotiate on behalf of the team in internal and external working groups to influence and develop solutions, presenting information and advice for service delivery consideration.
