Position Type: Fixed-Term Full-Time until September 2027 (9 day fortnight, 36.25 hours/week)
Salary Range: LGO8 ( $124,100 - $140,195 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

Application Close: 11:45pm, Sunday 4 October 2026. About The Role As a Senior Procurement Business Partner, you'll play a key role in delivering value for the Townsville community by partnering with stakeholders across Council to drive strategic procurement outcomes.
Working closely with internal customers, you'll provide expert advice on procurement, tendering and category management, helping shape procurement strategies that deliver value for money, efficiency improvements and strong commercial outcomes.
This is an influential role where you'll lead procurement initiatives, develop category strategies, manage supplier and contract performance, and support complex tender processes. You'll also identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement, build capability through coaching and stakeholder engagement, and help ensure procurement practices align with best practice while supporting Council's long-term objectives.
About You
- Experience in a similar procurement role
- Demonstrated experience in strategic procurement, category management and tendering processes
- Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship-building and customer service skills
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and recommendations
- Strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to interpret financial data, contracts and commercial documentation
- Experience working within the public sector and an understanding of government procurement environments
- Experience across maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) and indirects categories is desirable
