Purchasing | Supplier Management | Freight & Logistics

An established and growing business is seeking an experienced Senior Purchasing Officer for ANZ to join its team. This is a hands-on role responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing process, supplier relationships, freight and logistics, and inventory coordination. You will play a key role in ensuring goods are sourced efficiently, purchased accurately and delivered on time to meet operational and customer requirements.

Previous purchasing experience within a distribution environment and demonstrated freight and logistics experience are essential.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include

- Manage day-to-day purchasing activities across the business.
- Negotiate pricing, terms and delivery arrangements where appropriate.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure purchasing activities are undertaken in accordance with approved processes and delegated authorities.
- Obtain and compare freight quotes and select appropriate freight options based on cost, service and delivery requirements.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, suppliers and internal teams to coordinate shipments.
- Investigate freight discrepancies, damages and shortages and coordinate appropriate resolution.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand stock and purchasing requirements.
- Monitor stock availability and identify potential shortages or supply risks.
- Identify slow-moving, expired or excess stock and provide relevant information to management.
- Provide updates on order status, supplier lead times and potential supply issues.
- Prepare purchasing reports and assist with forecasting and purchasing analysis.





About You You will be an experienced purchasing professional who understands the requirements of a distribution environment and is comfortable managing suppliers, orders and freight from start to finish.

To be successful, you will have:

- 10+ years' experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain.
- Experience dealing with domestic and international suppliers.
- Experience coordinating freight forwarders, carriers and logistics providers.
- Strong experience negotiating pricing, terms and delivery arrangements.
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal stakeholders and customers.

Experience within machinery, equipment, technical products or food ingredient distribution will be highly regarded.
