LEAD FRAME CARPENTER – RESIDENTIAL HOUSE FRAMING

Blueprint Building Group is looking for an experienced residential frame carpenter to join our growing team.

This is not a general carpentry position.

We specialise predominantly in new residential house framing and are specifically looking for someone with extensive framing experience who is capable of completing a house frame from start to finish with minimal supervision.

The position would ideally suit someone who is currently, or has previously been, a lead carpenter or leading hand of a framing crew.

If you are qualified but do not have extensive domestic framing experience, this position will not be suitable.

The role

You will be working across new residential construction projects throughout Melbourne's northern and western suburbs, with some work extending from Geelong through to inner Melbourne.

You will be expected to confidently carry out all aspects of domestic timber framing, including:

- Reading and interpreting architectural, structural and frame plans
- Ground-floor wall framing
- Structural beams and steel installation
- Upper-floor framing
- Roof trusses and
- Bracing and tie-down requirements
- Straightening, plumbing and completing frames ready for inspection
- Identifying and resolving framing issues without constant supervision
- Working efficiently with other carpenters and apprentices
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship, safety and productivity

What we’re looking for

The successful applicant must:

- Hold a Certificate III in Carpentry
- Have extensive experience specifically in new residential house framing
- Have a high level of competency across all stages of domestic framing




- Be capable of independently reading plans and working out construction details
- Be capable of taking responsibility for the completion and quality of a frame
- Produce consistently accurate and high-quality work
- Be reliable and able to work effectively as part of a crew
- Hold a current driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Be willing to travel throughout Melbourne's northern, western and surrounding suburbs
- Have Australian working rights

Previous experience running or leading a framing crew will be highly regarded.

We are prepared to pay appropriately for someone who can genuinely operate at a high level.

Hourly rate: $45–$65 per hour, depending on experience and capability.

The upper end of this range is available for experienced framers who can independently run and complete residential house frames from start to finish, including set-out, floor systems, upper-storey framing, roof framing, structural components, plumbing and final completion.

We are not looking to fill this position at the lowest possible rate. We are looking for the right person and are prepared to pay accordingly for proven ability.
