Lead Data Engineer - Federal Government n

Location: Sydney/Canberra (hybrid, 1 day/week on-site) Contract: 12 months + 12-month extension Rate: $160 - 170/hour (including super) Start: 19th October 2026

About the role n

As Manager, Data Engineering, you'll lead multidisciplinary data engineering teams responsible for designing, developing and supporting the Agency's cloud-based data and analytics platforms using Microsoft Azure and Databricks.

- Leadership and delivery of data platform capabilities and services
n
- Team workload, priorities and performance management
n
- Operational support, incident response and platform health
n
- Stakeholder engagement and complex delivery programs
n
- Technical leadership and engineering standards adoption
n

What we're looking for nn




- 5+ years leading data engineering or technology teams in complex enterprise (especially government/regulated) environments
n
- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, cloud data architecture, ETL/ELT, and data governance
n
- Strong stakeholder management and people leadership capability
n
- Proven track record delivering and supporting large-scale data platforms
n
- Tertiary qualification in relevant technology discipline (or equivalent experience)
n
- Australian citizen
n
- NV1 security clearance (preferred, must be eligible for NV1)
n
