Recruitment Engineering Services (RES) is partnering with Queensland Rail to find a Principal Telecommunications Engineer for its embedded ETCS Alliance team in Brisbane.
This is a senior technical authority role, providing specialist engineering and technical leadership on the telecommunications data networks that carry ETCS across the QR network, including Cross River Rail.
What you'll do
- Provide strategic technical leadership and advice to business groups, technical staff and stakeholders on ETCS network engineering
- Make sure standards and procedures are documented and applied in line with QR quality assurance and improvement principles
- Monitor and influence ETCS CRR telecommunications data system projects, making sure performance is delivered at competitive cost and integration into the QR data network doesn't compromise reliability, availability or maintainability
- Lead technical training and competency development for telecommunications office and field staff
What you'll bring
- Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN data communications and physical network security,
ideally in a large transport, logistics or critical infrastructure environment
- Robust OT and MPLS experience
- Strong skills in the design, configuration, construction, auditing, commissioning, integration and documentation of telecommunications network systems
- Deep understanding of telecommunications performance and integration principles, with strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven ability to give professional advice, lead technical teams and build capability in technical and non-technical people
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to drive accountability for performance and compliance
- Australian working rights
Desireable
- Experience in rail
- Cisco experience in addition to accreditations (CCNA / CCNP)
- Firewall experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Electronic)
