What's the role?

News24 is the new brand name for Sky News Australia. After 30 years as an innovator in the news industry, the network has adopted a new brand name and is expanding its world-leading news and commentary digital strategy. As one of the top 10 most viewed English-language news channels in the world on YouTube, this new role is a unique opportunity to join an established news brand with global reach which also has the agility, dynamism and ambition of a startup brand.

Reporting to the Executive Producer for News24 Digital Originals, this Show Producer position is based in our brand-new world-class production facilities in Surry Hills, Sydney, and will be responsible for driving the delivery of editorial content for video program productions across News24's digital platforms.

You bring a strong news judgment, strategic thinking and the ability to operate in complex and fast-paced editorial environment.

Candidates must have experience working in a fast-paced production environment, ideally broadcasting, and a deep understanding of digital platforms and modern publishing strategies.

A keen eye for talent, interest in the global news cycle, and a deep understanding of current affairs is a must have for successful candidates.

Key Responsibilities

- Work closely with our fearless opinion hosts, helping them create a show that drives online audiences and sets the news agenda through opinion and commentary.
- Take end-to-end responsibility for the production and delivery of one-hour, host-led YouTube shows.
- Lead editorial planning and develop the content agenda for each program.
- Develop and manage show structure, format and recurring program elements, in partnership with the show host.
- Work closely with hosts to shape editorial direction, topics and presentation.
- Drive the program’s content strategy, with a focus on audience growth, engagement and performance across YouTube and other News24 Digital platforms.
- You will be exposed to all the best bits of video production - leadership, creativity, writing, chasing, talent management and much more.

Who are you?

- Must have solid newsroom experience and the ability to master software to produce TV programs. Experience with ENPS is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must have a very valuable knowledge of global politics and current affairs, and a good understanding of news events occurring elsewhere in the world.
- Needs to be able to understand online audiences and write headlines and straps that are eye-catching and unfailingly accurate.
- Write editorial content and suggest sharp questions for hosts and panelists to steer editorial direction in your show.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,



including an ability to effectively communicate with everyone from politicians of all persuasions, to CEOs, contributors and colleagues.
- Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently when required and to carry out assignments that are not part of the day to day routine.
- Previous experience in the production of TV or radio programming is preferred.
- Work in the office is required.
- Healthy knowledge of News24’s products and brand proposition is essential.
- Working hours may vary at times according to show demands.
- Understanding of broadcasting codes and relevant laws. Legal training will be provided.
