We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our SMSF Specialist team. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced SMSF professional who enjoys working closely with clients while taking ownership of client relationships, workflow management, and team development.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting, compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of SMSF clients. Working closely with Partners and Directors, you will oversee compliance and technical delivery, provide strategic superannuation advice, review work prepared by junior team members, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the SMSF function.

This role offers the perfect balance of leadership and hands-on technical involvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others while remaining actively involved in complex client matters.

What you'll do

Lead the client relationship

- Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of complex and high-value SMSF clients, financial advisers and professional partners.
- Build deep, trusted relationships, understanding not just the fund but the client's broader financial and personal circumstances.
- Lead client meetings and discussions on fund performance, compliance matters, pension strategies and structuring.
- Manage sensitive or difficult conversations with confidence,



judgement and professionalism.
- Identify opportunities to add value for clients and flag these to Partners and advisers where relevant.

Own technical delivery and review
- Review SMSF financial statements, annual returns, pension calculations and member transactions prepared by your team, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the SIS Act, ATO requirements and accounting standards.
- Act as the escalation point for complex or unusual matters, including intricate pension strategies, contributions, death benefit payments, Division 296 and small business concessions, and unusual fund structures.
- Oversee resolution of audit queries and manage relationships with SMSF auditors on more complex or contentious matters.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory change and translate this into practical guidance for your team and clients.
- Sign off on deliverables across your portfolio, taking ultimate accountability for quality and compliance.

Lead and develop your team
- Manage, coach and develop a team of SMSF accountants, supporting their technical growth and career progression.
- Review work, provide constructive feedback and build team capability over time.
- Manage workflow, capacity and deadlines across the team's combined portfolio.
- Foster a team culture of quality,



curiosity and continuous improvement.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and performance conversations within the team as needed.

Shape how the SMSF function runs
- Identify and lead improvements to systems, processes and quality standards across the SMSF function.
- Champion consistent use of SMSF administration platforms such as BGL360, Class or similar, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Partner with Partners and the broader leadership team on portfolio planning, pricing and service delivery.
- Contribute to the growth of the practice, including supporting new business opportunities and onboarding new clients.
- Represent the SMSF team's capability and reputation in dealings with clients, advisers and industry contacts.

What you'll bring You're a technically solid SMSF specialist who's ready to lead - both clients and people.

- 4+ years' experience in SMSF accounting and compliance, including experience managing a portfolio of complex funds.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching or mentoring a team.
- Deep knowledge of superannuation legislation, the SIS Act and taxation law as it applies to SMSFs.
- Strong experience with SMSF administration software such as BGL, Class or similar.
- Excellent client relationship management skills and the confidence to deal directly with clients, advisers and Partners.
- Sound judgement and the ability to work through complex, ambiguous or high-stakes matters with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- A track record of improving processes, quality or team performance.
