About the role

Barwon Events is seeking a highly organised and motivated Social Media and Digital Manager to help tell the story of our markets, events, stallholders and the people who bring them to life. You will have strong filming, photography and editing skills, along with experience in social media and digital marketing. You will understand how to capture the energy of a busy market and turn it into engaging, high quality content that feels natural, welcoming and unmistakably ours.

This is a hands on position that requires one day each week working at either Geelong City Market, Geelong Waterfront Market or one of our other events. You will need to be comfortable working outdoors, moving through a busy market, speaking with stallholders and customers, and occasionally helping with service and general market operations when required.

Key responsibilities

- Capture quality video and photography at our markets and events
- Edit reels, short form videos, photographs and other digital content
- Prepare and schedule content across our social media platforms
- Write clear, engaging captions that match the voice and personality of our markets
- Capture stallholder stories, food, produce, entertainment, activations and customer experiences
- Follow the content plan, marketing direction and visual style developed by Barwon Events
- Ensure content is delivered consistently, accurately and on time




- Assist with the delivery of digital marketing campaigns for markets, special events and activations
- Monitor social media performance and provide simple reporting on reach, engagement and audience growth
- Attend our market each week to film, photograph and capture content

About you

- Strong photography, filming and video editing skills
- Experience managing social media accounts for a business, venue, event or brand
- A good understanding of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and short form video content
- Experience using editing and design programs such as CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Robust written communication and the ability to adapt to an established tone of voice
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and time management
- The ability to follow a clear creative direction and maintain a consistent brand style
- Confidence working independently and meeting agreed deadlines
- Comfortable speaking with stallholders, customers and members of the public
- Live locally, hold a driver's licence and have your own means of transport
