Convair Engineering is looking for an Apprentice Boilermaker to join our Epping, Melbourne team on a full time basis, playing a key role in the fabrication of road tanker pressure vessels and specialised equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings and sketches, applying accurate marking out techniques and identifying materials and any defects. You will carry out thermal applications such as bending, forming and shaping steel, and assemble and track prepared steel in line with drawing requirements. The position also involves the safe operation of a range of power and hand tools, including angle grinders, pistol drills, guillotines and cut-off saws. This role will report to the Boilershop Team Leader and collaborates closely with the Workshop Team.

Key responsibilities

- Interpret engineering drawings and sketches
- Apply accurate marking out techniques
- Identify materials and any defects
- Carry out thermal applications such as bending, forming and shaping steel
- Assemble and track prepared steel in line with drawing requirements
- Safely operate a range of power and hand tools, including angle grinders, pistol drills, guillotines and cut-off saws

- Currently undergoing a Boilermaker/Welding apprenticeship
