State Manager – NSW/ACT

The State Manager - NSW/ACT is responsible for leading COPE's largest operational region, driving safety, operational excellence, financial performance and customer outcomes across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. The role is accountable for delivering business performance, leading a large and diverse workforce, supporting organisational growth and successfully guiding the operation through a significant transformation and relocation to COPE's new purpose-built super site.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Performance

- Lead overall operational performance across NSW and ACT.
- Ensure service delivery meets customer expectations and business objectives.
- Drive productivity, efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead the successful transition to COPE's new purpose-built super site.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

- Champion a strong safety culture across all operational activities.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and company requirements.
- Drive accountability for safety performance, incident management and risk mitigation.
- Promote best practice workplace health and safety standards.

Commercial & Financial Management

- Lead state-based financial performance and profitability outcomes.
- Manage budgets, cost control initiatives and resource allocation.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and commercial performance.
- Ensure operational decisions align with business strategy and growth objectives.

People Leadership & Capability Development

- Lead, coach and develop high-performing operational leaders and teams.




- Drive employee engagement, accountability and performance.
- Support workforce planning, succession planning and capability development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and customer focus.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

- Build and maintain robust relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
- Ensure operational performance supports customer retention and growth.
- Partner with internal leaders across the national network to achieve business objectives.
- Represent NSW & ACT operations as a key contributor to COPE's leadership team.

About You

You'll bring the following skills and experience to the role:

- Extensive senior leadership experience within transport, logistics, supply chain or a similar operational environment.
- Proven P&L; management experience and commercial accountability.
- Demonstrated success leading large, diverse operational teams.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer, operational and financial outcomes.
- Experience leading business transformation, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- A strong commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
