About the role

Cooper Creek Pastoral Co is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to join the team at Nappa Merrie Station, on the Cooper Creek in far south west Queensland.

This is a hands-on role, central to the running of the station. You'll be responsible for feeding a crew of staff and visitors — between 8 and 20, depending on the station program — keeping the kitchen, cold rooms and dining areas running to a high standard, and looking after general domestic duties and the homestead gardens from time to time.

Key responsibilities

- Planning and preparing meals for staff and visitors
- Ordering and managing food, dry goods and kitchen supplies
- Working to an agreed food budget and keeping accurate records of orders and stock
- Managing stock rotation, cold room and freezer organisation, and minimising waste
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety across the kitchen, cold rooms, pantry and dining areas
- Ad hoc station jobs as they come up,



working with limited supervision and contributing positively to the wider team

About you

- Previous experience cooking or catering for groups
- Able to plan varied, nutritious meals and adapt when plans change
- Positive organisational and time management skills
- Sound working knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety
- Able to work effectively with limited supervision
- A practical, positive and flexible attitude, and a willingness to muck in with station life
- Reasonable physical fitness for cleaning, laundry and outdoor work in warm conditions
- A current driver's licence
