About the role:

We are seeking a skilled & experienced Child and Youth Domestic Family Violence Caseworker to join our passionate Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) team on the Central Coast. The program aims to support women and children affected by domestic and family violence to remain safely in their home, or a home of their choosing while also supporting them recover from their experiences of violence.

The primary focus of this role is to assess and respond to the safety, wellbeing, and risk needs of women, children, and young people impacted by Domestic and Family Violence (DFV), while providing practical, emotional support.

You will delivers child-centred, child-aware, parent-sensitive, and trauma-informed practice, ensuring children's voices, experiences, and needs are recognised and responded to throughout service delivery. Working collaboratively with women and their children, the incumbent will identify and respond to each child's individual needs, advocate for their rights, safety, and wellbeing, and support them through tailored case planning processes. The role promotes recovery, resilience, and positive outcomes for children and young people impacted by DFV.

The Caseworker will mentor child-focused practice across the program, building awareness of the impacts of domestic and family violence on children and young people and ensuring appropriate supports, interventions, and responses are implemented to address their safety, developmental, and trauma-related needs.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Tuggerah and will require travel across the Central Coast visiting families in their residential homes or in the Community.

What You’ll Do:

- Provide high quality, short term, comprehensive case management to support women & children experiencing domestic & family violence.




- Engage with children through deep listening and age-appropriate activities to understand their needs
- Advocate for children and young peoples’ rights and needs to support enhance safety, strengthen wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes.
- Case managed clients will receive a safety risk assessment, safety plan and set goals to meet their individual needs through case planning.
- Provide support through advocacy, safety planning and collaboration with other services.
- Provide timely intake and triage assessment.
- Delivery of group facilitation and education of Domestic Family violence.
- Develop and foster strong relationships with relevant external stakeholders and community groups including NSW Police, Department of Communities and Justice NSW Health etc;
- Professional record keeping and information sharing consistent with legislation relating to NSW Privacy and Confidentiality, Child Protection and Safer Pathway obligations.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or equivalent qualifications.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role working and engaging with young people aged 4 -18 years.
- Demonstrated experience in effective case management with young people including Domestic and Family Violence, cycle of violence, impacts, behaviours and signs, safety planning.




- Demonstrated practice experience relating to current Child Protection and DFV legislation.
- Good understanding of developmental stages of children, attachment theory and signs when trauma has affected these behaviours
- Good understanding of the effects that fear, coercion and trauma play on a child’s physical safety, social and emotional wellbeing and mental health.
- Knowledge and experience of issues affecting at risk children/ young people aged 4-18 years, drug and alcohol, housing issues, domestic violence, child protection and knowledge of relevant services.
- Ability to demonstrate networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
