We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Structural Engineer to support the design, engineering and delivery of structural steel and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will work across the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed engineering through to fabrication, construction, installation and project completion. The role requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles and the ability to develop practical engineering solutions for complex construction and industrial environments.

The position will involve close collaboration with structural designers, drafting teams, fabricators, welders, project managers, contractors and site personnel.

Key Responsibilities

- Undertake structural engineering design and analysis for steel and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare structural calculations, engineering reports, specifications and technical documentation.
- Design and assess structural steelwork, frames, platforms, supports, access structures and associated components.
- Develop practical structural solutions suitable for fabrication, transportation, installation and construction.
- Review structural drawings, fabrication drawings, shop drawings and technical documentation.
- Provide engineering input during the fabrication and construction stages of projects.
- Assess existing structures and provide recommendations for modification, strengthening, repair or replacement where required.
- Assist with the design and assessment of temporary and permanent structural works.
- Coordinate structural engineering requirements with drafting, fabrication and construction teams.
- Conduct site inspections, structural assessments, measurements and investigations.
- Provide technical advice and resolve structural issues encountered during fabrication, installation and construction.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure structural designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, engineering codes, project specifications and statutory requirements.
- Review engineering deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Assist with engineering submissions, tenders, estimates and project documentation.




- Participate in design reviews, project meetings and technical discussions.
- Support quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve structural design, fabrication and construction methodologies.

Design & Engineering Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and engineering calculations.
- Determine structural loads, member sizes, connections and support requirements.
- Assess structural capacity and serviceability.
- Develop engineering concepts into detailed structural solutions.
- Review structural design against applicable codes and standards.
- Consider fabrication, transport, lifting and installation requirements during design.
- Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical and civil requirements.
- Provide engineering solutions that consider constructability, safety, cost and project requirements.

Fabrication & Construction Support A solid practical understanding of structural steel fabrication and construction will be important in this role.

Responsibilities may include





- Reviewing fabrication methodologies and shop drawings.
- Working with fabricators to resolve design and fabrication issues.
- Providing engineering clarification to workshop and site teams.
- Reviewing welding, connection and fabrication requirements.
- Supporting structural steel erection and installation activities.
- Inspecting completed or partially completed structural works.
- Assessing variations and design changes during construction.
- Providing technical solutions to site-based structural issues.
- Ensuring fabricated structures are consistent with approved engineering documentation.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in structural engineering.
- Strong understanding of structural steel design and analysis.
- Experience interpreting structural drawings, fabrication drawings and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and structural engineering codes.
- Understanding of structural analysis, load paths, connections and structural behaviour.
- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, drafters, fabricators, contractors and site personnel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage engineering deliverables and meet project deadlines.

Pay: $72,835.31 – $155,735.87 per year
