Supporting High-Needs Young Adults

We are seeking experienced, reliable and compassionate independent Support Workers to provide individualised support to two young adults with high and complex support needs in the Northern Rivers.

This is an opportunity to work closely with a small team and make a genuine difference in the lives of two young people.

The role

Support will be individualised to each young person's needs and may include:

- Daily living and personal care
- Community access and participation
- Transport to appointments and activities
- Meal preparation and household tasks
- Supporting communication and emotional regulation
- Developing independence and practical living skills
- Supporting meaningful activities, interests and relationships
- Following individual support, behaviour and safety plans
- Recognising changes in presentation and escalating concerns appropriately
- Accurate and timely progress notes
- Working collaboratively with families, allied health professionals and the support team.

We are looking for Support Workers who are

- Experienced in supporting people with high and complex needs
- Calm, patient and consistent
- Reliable and professional
- Confident supporting behaviours of concern
- Able to work independently
- Able to follow individualised support and safety plans
- Respectful of dignity, choice and autonomy
- Focused on building capacity rather than creating dependence
- Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary support team.

Experience with autism, intellectual disability, complex mental health, positive behaviour support, trauma-informed practice and personal care will be highly regarded.

Contractor requirements

Applicants must be able to provide evidence of:

- ABN
- NDIS Worker Screening Check




- Working With Children Check (WWCC) where applicable
- Current photo identification
- Right to work in Australia
- Current driver's licence
- Current vehicle registration
- Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance where transporting participants
- Public liability insurance
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Appropriate personal accident/work cover relevant to their contractor status
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Relevant qualifications and training
- Relevant experience supporting people with complex needs
- Two qualified referees.

Additional training relevant to the individual support requirements may also be required, including areas such as positive behaviour support, manual handling, medication support, epilepsy/seizure management, dysphagia or other specialised support, where applicable. Successful applicants will also be required to complete participant-specific induction and training and comply with applicable NDIS requirements, policies and support plans.

Engagement

Independent contractor – regular ongoing hours available.

Rate: approximately $45–$50 per hour, depending on experience and requirements.
