Switchboard Electricians and Electrical Fitters: permanent roles with an electrical and manufacturing contractor in regional NSW

On this occasion we are recruiting for an established electrical and manufacturing contractor with workshops in regional NSW. The business designs and builds switchboards, control panels and electrical infrastructure for mining, energy, water and industrial clients, and is growing on the back of a major long-term order.

Standard working terms and conditions are based on industry sector standards, with competitive pay rates.

The opportunity

We are seeking Switchboard Electricians and Electrical Fitters for permanent, workshop-based roles, with some site installation and commissioning work. The workshop builds low-voltage switchboards, motor control centres and control panels from drawings through to testing and dispatch. These roles are central to getting quality boards out the door on time, and there is a clear path from the workshop floor to leading hand and supervisory roles as the team grows.

Key responsibilities - Switchboard Electrician

- Assemble and wire low-voltage switchboards, motor control centres and distribution boards from electrical drawings and schedules
- Fit out enclosures: busbar, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, VSDs, PLCs, metering and terminals
- Terminate, label and loom control and power wiring to a clean, consistent standard
- Test, inspect and fault-find completed boards, including insulation resistance and functional testing




- Read and mark up electrical drawings, and flag design or material issues early
- Support site installation and commissioning when required
- Work to AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439, and to the workshop quality and safety systems

Key responsibilities - Electrical Fitter

- Mechanical fit-out of switchboard enclosures: cutting, drilling, mounting gear plates, chassis, busbar and cable supports
- Assemble control panels and marshalling boxes from drawings and bills of material
- Install cable ladder, tray, conduit and glands on boards and at site
- Prepare, crimp and terminate power cables and busbar connections
- Assist electricians with wiring and testing
- Keep the workshop organised, safe and stocked, and maintain accurate build records

About you

- Certification and Experience: Switchboard Electricians hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (or a recognised equivalent) and an Australian electrical licence, with experience in switchboard or control panel manufacturing, industrial electrical installation, or plant maintenance. Electrical Fitters hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrical Fitter or Switchboard) or a Certificate III in Engineering, or bring solid experience in switchboard or panel assembly. Candidates from manufacturing, mining services, energy, water and heavy industry are ideal.
- Technical Skills:



Reading electrical drawings and schematics, neat wiring and termination, fault-finding and testing, and a working knowledge of switchboard components and the relevant Australian Standards.
- Soft Skills: Clear communication, good time management, pride in the finish of your work, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptability and Learning: A proactive learner who embraces new technologies and looks for ways to improve efficiency and quality.
- Licences and Certifications: Full driver's licence and white card. Forklift, EWP and working at heights tickets are an advantage and can be arranged.

Additional information

- Roles are mainly workshop-based on a standard Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional site work and overtime
