About Winnunga

Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health & Community Services (Winnunga AHCS) is Canberra’s only Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service. Based in Narrabundah, we provide culturally safe, holistic healthcare and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the ACT and surrounding regions.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and hands-on Senior Facilities Officer to join our Administration Services team. This is a varied, hands-on role combining practical maintenance and grounds work with facilities coordination, administration and contractor management.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will support the day-to-day management of Winnunga’s facilities, grounds, fleet, assets, contractors, cleaning and security functions. The role requires a high degree of independence, good organisational skills and the ability to identify, prioritise and respond to facilities and maintenance needs.

- Coordinate and monitor routine maintenance, contractors, cleaning and security services.
- Respond to facilities and maintenance requests, prioritising work according to safety and operational requirements.
- Undertake general grounds maintenance, minor repairs and building upkeep, including lawn mowing, rubbish and cobweb removal, balconies, handrails, locks and handles.
- Assist with fleet vehicle upkeep and common facilities areas.
- Monitor and replenish facilities supplies and assist with stocktakes and asset records.
- Maintain facilities, contractor, risk and safety records and related documentation.
- Assist with the safe relocation of furniture and equipment within reasonable safety limits.




- Identify and report hazards and risks and support WH&S; requirements and corrective actions.
- Assist the Facilities Manager with other facilities-related duties as required.

About You

- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet operational requirements.
- Experience coordinating contractors, service providers or maintenance activities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Sound computer skills and the ability to maintain electronic records.
- Practical maintenance skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Ability to identify facilities issues, assess urgency and escalate appropriately.
- A commitment to maintaining a secure, clean and welcoming workplace.

Essential Criteria

- Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. This is an identified position and a genuine occupational qualification under Section 42 of the Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT).
- Current full driver’s licence.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People registration.

Desirable Criteria

- Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
- Current Asbestos Awareness Training, or willingness to undertake the training.
- Current Crystalline Silica Exposure Training, or willingness to undertake the training.
- Current White Card, or willingness to undertake the required training to obtain one.
