1st Year Mechanical Engineering Apprentice

Are you hands-on, mechanically minded and keen to learn how industrial machinery works? This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career within the packaging industry as a 1st Year Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, gaining practical experience maintaining and servicing packaging machinery in a clean, modern workshop environment.

Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you'll develop valuable skills across mechanical maintenance, machinery servicing and fault finding while completing your apprenticeship and gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

What you'll learn

As part of your apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience with a range of industrial machinery and mechanical components, including:

- Gearboxes and drive systems
- Motors and mechanical drives
- Shafts, bearings and couplings
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Conveyors and packaging equipment
- Mechanical assembly and disassembly
- Preventative maintenance and servicing
- Fault finding and troubleshooting
- Using hand and power tools
- Reading basic mechanical drawings and documentation
- Safe work practices and workshop procedures

About you

We're looking for someone who:
- Is genuinely interested in mechanical engineering and machinery
- Enjoys fixing, building and pulling things apart to understand how they work
- Is practical, hands-on and mechanically minded
- Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn
- Can follow instructions and work well as part of a team
- Has a strong commitment to workplace safety
- Takes pride in their work and enjoys working in a clean, organised environment




- Is committed to completing their apprenticeship and developing a long-term career in the trade
- Previous experience with tools, machinery, mechanics, maintenance or engineering will be viewed favourably but is not essential.
