About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Language Teacher - Japanese to join our primary teaching team at Bethania Lutheran Primary School in Bethania, QLD 4205. This is a 0.7 -FTE part time position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of primary school students. As a Japanese teacher, you will be responsible for assisting in the development of student's language skills, intercultural understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture through engaging, age appropriate and inclusive learning experiences.

What you'll be doing

1. Plan, document, teach and evaluate units of work in Japanese using current curriculum documents and School frameworks.

2. Use a variety of age-appropriate teaching strategies to engage students in speaking, listening, reading and writing Japanese.

3. Provide learning experiences that build students' understanding of Japanese culture, traditions and contemporary life.

4. Cater for a range of student abilities through differentiated planning, classroom organisation and use of available School support.

5. Record and report student progress and performance in accordance with the school's assessment and reporting requirements.

Supporting the pastoral care and spiritual development of students in alignment with school values.

7. Participating in professional development activities and contributing to school improvement initiatives.

8. Maintain Japanese teaching resources and contribute to relevant cultural activities, celebrations, incursions, excursions or community partnerships, where approved by the school.

9. Maintaining accurate records and documentation as required by school and education department standards.

What we're looking for

1. A current Queensland Teacher Registration or the ability to obtain registration.

2. A Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent teaching qualification.

3. Demonstrated capability to teach Japanese language and culture across primary school year levels.

4. Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum: Languages (Japanese) and effective language acquisition pedagogy.

5. Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to diverse learners.

6. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive, supportive learning environment.

7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, parents and carers.

8. A commitment to student wellbeing and pastoral care.

9. Proficiency in using technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning.

A passion for Christian education and alignment with the school's values and mission.

11. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to school culture.

12. A commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

13. Experience with literacy and numeracy instruction is highly desirable.

14. Experience in a faith-based school setting would be advantageous.
