Brothers Rugby League Football Club Innisfail Inc. has been a central part of the Innisfail community for more than 100 years, fostering sporting excellence, strong community ties, and player development. Based at Callendar Park on the Cassowary Coast, approximately 85km south of Cairns, the club operates from one of Queensland’s premier country rugby league facilities. The venue offers a high-quality playing surface, modern gym facilities, 22 corporate boxes, and covered seating for more than 1,000 spectators.

The Leprechauns compete in the FNQ Rugby League (CDRL) competition with A Grade, Reserve Grade, Women’s, and Under 19s teams, supported by a junior base of over 250 players across the district. The club is committed to maintaining its long-standing traditions while providing clear pathways for emerging rugby league talent and remaining closely connected to the local community.

Role Description The A Grade and Head Coach / Junior Development Coordinator is a contract, on-site role based in Innisfail, QLD. This role is responsible for planning and delivering A Grade training sessions, game-day strategies, and performance reviews, while ensuring player welfare and development. The position includes overseeing junior development programs and implementing structured pathways to transition promising junior players into senior grades.

Day-to-day tasks involve designing skill and fitness programs, providing technical and tactical coaching, collaborating with assistant coaches and team staff, and maintaining effective communication with players and club leadership. The role also contributes to talent identification, community engagement activities,



and adherence to club standards, competition regulations, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated rugby league coaching experience at senior or junior levels, with solid skills in technical, tactical, and player development coaching.
- Experience coordinating junior programs, including planning training schedules, progression pathways, and age-appropriate skill development.
- Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills, with the ability to motivate diverse playing groups and collaborate with staff and volunteers.
- Proven ability to plan and analyse game strategies, conduct performance reviews, and use data or video analysis to improve team outcomes.
- Understanding of athlete welfare, injury prevention, safe training practices, and compliance with relevant rugby league policies and codes of conduct.
- Capacity to build positive relationships with players, parents, community members, and stakeholders, and to represent the club professionally.
- Relevant coaching accreditations or certifications (e.g., Rugby League coaching qualifications) Must hold current Community Coaching Accreditations for Community Coach 6-7, 8-12, 13-18 and 19+
- Current Working With Children clearance (Blue Card)
- Availability to work evenings and weekends in line with training, competition schedules, and club events.
- Current Queensland Class C drivers licence
