Accountant/Project Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Accountant/Project Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting activities across three trading entities.

This is a varied role covering accounts payable and receivable, payroll, month-end accounting, reconciliations, progress claims and reporting. The role would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on and is comfortable managing both transactional and accounting responsibilities in a small business environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage accounts payable, including the accounts inbox, processing supplier invoices, following up approvals and preparing payment runs.

- Reconcile supplier statements, bank accounts, credit cards and fuel cards.

- Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing and debtor follow-up.

- Prepare and submit customer progress claims and supporting documentation.

- Process payroll, including allowances and overtime, and meet superannuation obligations.

- Complete month-end processing, including balance sheet and intercompany billing.

- Prepare monthly financial reports.

- Maintain cash flow reporting and assist with forecasts as required.

- Administer subcontractor claims.

- Prepare BAS and PAYG information for review and lodgement.

- Maintain accurate finance records and filing across all three entities.

- Assist with project costing and other financial analysis as required.

- Support improvements to accounting systems and processes.





- Perform other accounting and finance administration duties as reasonably required.

Skills & Experience

- Accounting or commerce qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.

- Minimum 3–5 years' practical accounting experience.

- Experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable and month-end accounting.

- Payroll processing experience.

- Strong Excel skills and experience with MYOB or similar accounting software.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- Well organised and able to manage competing priorities independently.

- Confident communicator, comfortable following up internal and external stakeholders.

- Construction, civil or utilities experience would be advantageous.

- Experience with progress claims, and multiple entities would be highly regarded
