Bring two sets of clothes

You could start the day at our Oakey farm with Gerard and Annie (the kelpie)—mowing, doing maintenance, making hay or loading trucks. Or you might start in the lab, testing and grinding samples so our experts—your team members—can be more productive that day.

After lunch, you might clean up and head into Head Office to manage chats on the LocalAg marketplace, help the Feed Central Trading team with a deal and join a Google Ads, SEO and AI performance meeting.

Before you go home, don’t forget to tell the bots what they need to do overnight.

Don’t stress—it won’t be that full-on from day one. Most of that will take at least a year. We’ll move you between jobs as you’re ready and where the business needs you. If you learn fast, you will thrive here.

Who we’re looking for

You must be studying agriculture, agricultural science, agribusiness or a related agricultural degree—or have firm plans to start in 2027.

First- and second-year students are preferred because we want the opportunity to grow with you over several years. Hopefully you stay with us after you graduate, but maybe you won’t.

You might come from a farm and already know your way around machinery. Or you might have limited practical experience but be determined to build your future in agriculture.

Experience isn’t essential. Attitude is.

- Be capable with technology and genuinely interested in AI
- Be prepared to get hot, dusty and dirty
- Do ordinary jobs properly, without getting bored

Who are we The Feed Central Group is Australian-owned and family-run, our businesses include Feed Central Trading, Feed Standards Australia, LocalAg and Toowoomba Hay Farm.

We farm, make hay, test feed, inspect quality, trade agricultural commodities, organise logistics, build digital marketplaces and use technology to lift standards across agriculture.

Just to fill in our spare time, we also subdivide and develop land. It pays for our ag obsessions—sometimes.

We’re just west of Toowoomba—approximately 10 minutes from UniSQ and 45 minutes from UQ Gatton.

This is casual work designed to fit around university, sport and your social life.

During semester, it may be around two days per week. During university holidays and busy farming periods, full time hours may be available. Once you’re trained and able to work independently, some weekend work may also be available.

You’ll earn a good casual hourly rate while gaining practical experience across farming, laboratory work, business, technology and AI.

Do well and opportunities will open as you grow—including the possibility of building a career with us after graduation.

You must have a current driver’s license, reliable transport, and be able to work at both Charlton and Oakey.

This is an onsite role with no work-from-home option. You can start immediately or when the academic year finishes.
