Senior AI Engineer

6-Month Contract | Up to $1100/day | Hybrid | WA Based

About the Opportunity A major technology program is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join its AI Operations capability on an initial 6-month contract.

This role will focus on taking AI solutions from development through to reliable, secure production operation. You’ll work across Azure AI, MLOps, LLMOps and DevSecOps, helping establish the engineering standards, automation and operational frameworks needed to support machine learning models, generative AI applications and AI agents at enterprise scale.

You’ll also play an important role in making these capabilities sustainable for the internal team through reusable engineering patterns, documentation and knowledge transfer.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Build and automate CI/CD processes for AI and machine learning workloads across Azure.
- Develop practical MLOps and LLMOps capabilities covering model lifecycle management, experimentation, evaluation, version control and controlled production releases.
- Engineer observability across AI workloads, using services such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics to provide effective monitoring, logging and tracing.
- Embed security throughout the engineering lifecycle, including identity, secrets management, automated security controls and release governance.
- Develop and support RAG and data ingestion solutions, with a focus on reliable indexing, version management and operational monitoring.




- Deploy and operate LLM and AI agent workloads using Python and Azure-native services.
- Test solutions under load and failure conditions, including recovery scenarios, to ensure production readiness.
- Create reusable engineering templates, technical documentation and operating practices that can be adopted by internal teams.
- Work closely with engineering and technical stakeholders to improve the reliability and repeatability of AI delivery.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a hands-on AI engineering specialist with solid experience taking AI solutions into production environments.

Essential experience includes

- Strong commercial experience across Azure AI, particularly Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Search.
- Advanced Python development skills, including API integration and engineering automation.
- Strong MLOps / LLMOps experience across model and data lifecycle management, testing, validation and deployment.
- Practical experience building RAG solutions and production-grade LLM or AI agent applications.
- Experience with Azure compute, containers and automated deployment pipelines.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, particularly Entra ID, Key Vault, permissions, guardrails and content safety controls.
- Experience designing reusable DevOps / AI engineering patterns rather than simply delivering one-off solutions.
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to transfer knowledge to internal engineering teams.
