This is an opportunity to join a high-profile Federal Government department responsible for delivering major national reform initiatives. Working at the centre of government policy development, you will contribute to complex and high-impact policy priorities that require coordination across jurisdictions, engagement with senior stakeholders, and the delivery of advice that informs government decision-making.

Your new role

There are multiple opportunities available for APS5, APS6, EL1 and EL2 equivalent Policy Officers and Senior Policy Advisers. These positions will suit professionals with a strong policy background who enjoy working in fast-paced environments and contributing to complex reform agendas.

Key responsibilities may include

- Leading or contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of government policy.
- Providing strategic policy advice on complex and emerging issues.
- Undertaking research, analysis and evidence gathering to support policy development and decision-making.
- Preparing high-quality Cabinet submissions, ministerial briefs, executive correspondence, discussion papers and policy recommendations.
- Developing policy positions, implementation strategies and reform proposals.
- Coordinating consultation and engagement activities across government, industry and community stakeholders.
- Managing relationships with Commonwealth, state and territory government representatives.
- Supporting intergovernmental forums, governance arrangements and policy committees.
- Identifying policy risks, opportunities and impacts and providing practical recommendations.
- Monitoring policy outcomes, emerging trends and government priorities to inform future reform initiatives.

At the EL1 and EL2 levels,



you will provide leadership on complex policy matters, drive strategic outcomes and influence policy development across multiple stakeholders and jurisdictions.

What you'll need to succeed To be considered, you will demonstrate:

- Experience delivering policy advice within a government or regulatory environment.
- Strong understanding of policy development, implementation and evaluation processes.
- Advanced written communication skills, including the preparation of ministerial and executive-level documentation.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking capability.
- The ability to interpret complex information and develop evidence-based recommendations.
- Experience engaging with a broad range of stakeholders and building productive working relationships.
- Robust judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to navigate complex policy environments.
- Experience supporting governance frameworks, decision-making processes and policy coordination activities.
- An understanding of Commonwealth Government processes and machinery of government will be highly regarded.
- Experience in family, domestic and sexual violence policy, women's safety, child wellbeing, social policy or related sectors will be highly regarded.

To be considered for this role, you will need to be an Australian citizen and have a Government Security Clearance at the Baseline level or higher.
