About the role
We are looking for an Assistant Design Officer to support and strengthen the way our design team works across projects and programs. This role will play an important part in improving team efficiency by helping to standardise and harmonise workflows, tools, processes and ways of working.
This is a role suited to someone who enjoys bringing structure, organisation and clarity to complex or fast-moving environments. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable coordinating multiple activities and supporting several team members at the same time.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities, priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring tasks, information, documentation and processes are accurate, consistent and up to date.
- Experience supporting team workflows, project coordination, administration or operational processes in a fast-paced workplace.
- An ability to identify opportunities to standardise, simplify and improve processes across projects and teams.
- Foundational awareness of human-centred design, with an interest in developing practical design knowledge and capability.
- An understanding of agile ways of working and an enthusiasm for learning how agile practices can support effective team delivery.
- A commitment to contributing to a positive,
inclusive and collaborative team culture.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance for paid employment.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
