The Role With the business entering an exciting phase of growth, an opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and commercially minded Associate Director of Civil Engineering to join the team, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

You'll lead and manage complex projects from inception to completion, while playing a genuine role in shaping the business's strategic direction, from business development and client relationships through to project financial performance.

This is a senior, client-facing role for someone who wants real input into where the business goes next, not just the technical delivery of projects.

The Responsibilities

- Lead and manage complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Review project documentation and maintain high-quality technical standards across all deliverables.
- Develop and maintain robust client relationships, identifying opportunities for new business.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to project teams, fostering professional development.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the business's strategic vision and long-term growth objectives.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, including proposal writing and networking.




- Oversee financial management of projects, including budgeting, forecasting and profitability tracking.
- Prepare fee proposals and participate in tender submissions.

The Requirements This role suits a commercially minded civil leader who's ready to help shape where the business goes next. In return, you'll be able to demonstrate:

- Minimum 10 years' civil design experience, with at least 5 years within an Australian engineering design consultancy.
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent).
- Experience working on urban development or land development projects.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive business growth and achieve results in a competitive market.
- Proficient in 12D, DRAINS and MUSIC with AutoCAD desirable.
- Proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly report writing.
- Excellent knowledge of Australian Standards and Council design standards.
- Ability to oversee and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and support to their professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain robust client relationships that generate repeat business.
