KAW Engineering is looking for skilled Boilermakers / Welders to join our Karratha-based team. We have a number of full-time, permanent positions available for immediate start, covering both workshop and site work across the Pilbara region.

We're after tradespeople with a strong background in structural steel fabrication and welding, along with experience in class-approved marine fabrication and welding, structural aluminium fabrication and welding, and sheet metal fabrication in steel, stainless and aluminium.

On the back of sustained growth, we currently have several vacancies for experienced Boilermakers / Welders to join our Karratha team.

About the Role

Reporting to our Workshop & Site Project Managers, this Karratha-based role will expose you to a broad range of welding and boilermaking work and give you real prospect to diversify and build on your skills:

- Fabricate and weld structural steel for a range of applications — marine vessels, heavy earth moving equipment and architectural works — to drawings and work specifications
- Prepare metal stock, including selecting and cleaning materials
- Use hand and machine fabrication tools to shape and bend metal by heating and hammering




- Carry out coded pipe and pressure vessel fabrication
- Complete site installation and maintenance work for clients including Rio Tinto, Woodside, Yara, CITIC, BHP, FMG and Toll
- Work on heavy earth moving equipment welding — buckets, booms, wear components and more
- Deliver architectural and decorative work, including complex stainless steel parts and boat work, by cleaning and smoothing welds through filling, grinding and chiselling

Qualifications & Experience

- At least 5 years’ relevant work experience
- Cert III in Engineering or Metal Fabrication (or higher)
- Able to pass a 3G & 4G test coupon with 7016 stick rods in 12mm mild steel to AS1554.1 (Generalist), or 6G GTAW in 2” Sch Std carbon steel (Piping Specialist)
- Current White Card
- Full Australian working rights
- Able to interpret and fabricate from shop drawings

Role Summary

- Role type: Permanent full time, or ongoing casual option available
- Location: Karratha, WA (applicants from all states and territories will be considered)
- Licence: Manual car licence (mandatory)
- Checks required: current police clearance, full pre-employment medical, and clearance to work on Rio Tinto, CITIC Pacific, Woodside, Toll, Chevron, FMG and Roy Hill sites
