About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and organised Carer Compliance and Support Officer to join our team in Deniliquin on a permanent part-time basis, working four days per week. In this rewarding role, you will play an important part in supporting the quality, safety and compliance of our Permanency Support Program. You will work closely with carers, providing guidance and support to help them understand and meet relevant policies, procedures, standards, compliance requirements and training obligations.

Key responsibilities

- Maintain accurate, up-to-date carer files, documentation and compliance records
- Ensure carer probity checks are completed
- Coordinate carer recruitment, training and ongoing support
- Support the maintenance and stability of placements for children and young people in Out of Home Care in collaboration with Case Workers
- Build positive and professional relationships with carers, children, young people and staff
- Provide practical guidance and assistance to ensure carers feel supported and well equipped in their role
- Monitor that carers meet all required policies, standards and legislative requirements
- Provide general support to the Permanency Support Case Workers as required, including assisting with casework-related tasks

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

- Qualifications in Community Services (Min. Cert IV) or related field and/or relevant experience and knowledge of the OOHC sector.
- Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive reports and assessments.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, proven experience in record management, and the ability to problem solve, negotiate,



and resolve concerns and conflict.
- Strong organisational skills, able to multi-task and prioritise.
- Demonstrated experience in utilising client management systems.
- Experience working within Aboriginal communities and/or have an understanding of Aboriginal culture.
- Ability to work in a team, follow direction and learn, is motivated to take on challenges with minimal direction.
- Ability to provide on call after hours services as rostered.
- A current satisfactory NSW Working with Children’s Check.
- A current satisfactory National Police Check.
- A current driver’s license.

Desirable skills and experience

- Previous experience working with carers and/or have an understanding of the carer experience.
- Current Shared Lives accreditation or prepared to become accredited
- Current Step by Step accreditation or prepared to become accredited

The successful applicant must hold:

- a current and satisfactory NSW Working with Children’s Clearance
- Be willing to obtain a National Police Check
- Unrestricted Driver’s License.
- Prepared to provide an NSW Driver History
