About the role

T.A.P Carpentry & Construction is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice Carpenter to join our team in Gympie, QLD. This is a full-time apprenticeship position that offers an exceptional opportunity to learn the carpentry trade from experienced professionals whilst working on diverse construction projects. As an Apprentice Carpenter, you will develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge under the mentorship of skilled tradespeople, contributing to the successful completion of residential and commercial carpentry projects.

This role is crucial to building a pipeline of talented tradespeople and supporting our company's continued growth and reputation for quality workmanship.

What you'll be doing

As an Apprentice Carpenter, your key responsibilities will include:

- Assisting experienced carpenters with the construction, installation and finishing of timber and steel structures and components
- Learning to read and interpret architectural plans, drawings and specifications
- Preparing work sites and ensuring materials and tools are organised and ready for use
- Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
- Assisting with site clean-up and waste management
- Attending and completing off-the-job training as part of your apprenticeship requirements

What we're looking for To succeed in this Apprentice Carpenter position, you should possess the following skills, qualifications and experience:

- School Certificate or equivalent qualification, with a strong focus on Mathematics and English
- Current entry-level literacy and numeracy competencies relevant to the construction industry




- A genuine passion for carpentry and a desire to learn the building trade
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in varying outdoor and indoor conditions
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong work ethic, reliability and punctuality
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team
- Manual dexterity and positive spatial awareness
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transport to reach job sites in and around the Gympie region
- Willingness to obtain or hold a White Card (Construction Induction Card)
- Preferred: Prior experience in construction, woodwork or building-related subjects at school
