Casual Summer Labourer – Hydroseeding Assistant

BWD Group is located at Cora Lynn and looking for a reliable and hardworking Casual Summer Labourer to join our team during our busy summer period.

We specialise in hydroseeding, hydromulching, erosion control and revegetation works across a range of commercial and civil sites. We’re looking for someone who is happy to get outdoors, get their hands dirty and help our crew get the job done.

This is a hands-on role assisting our experienced operators with the day-to-day hydroseeding process. No hydroseeding experience is required – we can teach you what you need to know.

What you'll be doing

- Assisting the crew with hydroseeding and hydromulching works

- Helping prepare seed, fertiliser, mulch and other materials

- Assisting with filling and preparing hydroseeding equipment

- Handling and positioning hoses during application

- General site set-up, pack-up and clean-up

- Cleaning equipment and helping keep machinery and work areas organised

- Assisting with other general labouring tasks as required

- Following site and workplace safety procedures

A current driver's licence is preferred, but a truck licence is not required.

The Role

This is a casual summer position, ideal for someone looking for practical outdoor work over the warmer months. Hours will vary depending on workload, project locations and weather conditions.

You'll work alongside an experienced crew and gain exposure to hydroseeding, revegetation and erosion-control projects across a variety of sites.

Casual Summer Labourer / Hydroseeding Assistant

Primary Purpose:



To provide general labouring and operational assistance to BWD Group crews undertaking hydroseeding, hydromulching, revegetation, erosion-control and associated site works.

Position Purpose The Casual Summer Labourer / Hydroseeding Assistant provides practical, hands-on support to BWD Group's onsite crews during the busy summer period.

The position assists experienced operators with the preparation, application and clean-up associated with hydroseeding and related works. The role does not require previous hydroseeding experience, with training and instruction provided onsite.

The employee is expected to contribute to a safe, efficient and productive work environment by following instructions, assisting other team members and taking appropriate care of BWD Group's equipment and materials.

Key Responsibilities The employee may be required to:

- Assist with the preparation of hydroseeding and hydromulching materials, including seed, fertiliser, mulch and other products.

- Assist operators with filling and preparing hydroseeding machinery.

- Assist with the handling, laying out, positioning and retrieval of hydroseeding hoses.

- Support operators during hydroseeding and hydromulching application.

- Undertake general site preparation and labouring duties.

- Assist with loading, unloading and moving materials and equipment.

- Assist with cleaning tanks, hoses, tools and other equipment following works.

- Maintain clean and organised work areas.

- Assist with erosion-control, revegetation, seeding and related works where required.

- Follow reasonable directions provided by the Site Supervisor or other authorised BWD Group personnel.

- Undertake other general labouring duties within the employee's skills, training and capabilities.

Work Health and Safety The employee is required to:

- Follow all BWD Group workplace health and safety policies and procedures.

- Follow site-specific safety requirements and instructions.

- Correctly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Participate in site inductions, toolbox meetings and safety briefings as required.

- Use equipment only where appropriately instructed, trained and authorised.





- Immediately report hazards, incidents, injuries, damaged equipment or unsafe conditions.

- Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others onsite.

- Follow protected manual-handling practices.

Licences and Experience

Essential:

- Capacity to safely undertake physical outdoor work.

- Ability and willingness to follow workplace and site safety requirements.

- Current Australian driver's licence.

- Construction Industry White Card.

Desirable:

- Previous experience in landscaping, civil construction, agriculture, revegetation or general labouring.

A heavy vehicle/truck licence is not required for this position.

Working Conditions The role involves outdoor work across different project sites and may include exposure to heat, sun, dust, mud, water and other normal site conditions.

Hours of work may vary according to project requirements, weather conditions and operational needs. Early starts and travel to different worksites may be required.

As a casual employee, hours are offered according to the operational requirements of BWD Group and are not guaranteed.

Physical Requirements The position may involve:

- Standing and walking for extended periods.

- Handling hydroseeding hoses and equipment.

- Lifting and moving materials within safe manual-handling limits.

- Repetitive physical activity.

- Working on uneven outdoor surfaces.

- Working in summer weather conditions.

All work must be undertaken in accordance with BWD Group's safety procedures and the employee's level of training and competency.
