About the role The successful candidate will support the kitchen and front-of-house operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation, cleanliness, and customer service. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a team.
Key responsibilities
- Support volunteer engagement and program implementation
- Communicate and consult closely with Café Manager on operational needs, customer feedback, and suppliers
- Offer exceptional customer service producing high-quality food and beverages
- Adhere to all food safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness of the cafe dining and kitchen spaces
- Maintain operational protocols within the cafe
- Simple preparation and presentation of food and beverages to a high standard
- Reheat and cool food to the correct temperature
- Make coffee when required
- Cater for events
About you
- Previous experience in a café, catering or hospitality workplace
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays
- Ability to work under pressure and multi task effectively
- Maintains a positive attitude and a genuine passion for food and customer service
- Excellent verbal and written skills with an attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise competing work demands, delegate clearly and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills: builds rapport, listens, communicates clearly and tactfully
- Recognised Barista accreditation is preferred
- Basic food hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful National Criminal History Check, current Working with Children Check, and attendance of Safe Church Training required
