YACOCO GD PTY LTD is seeking an experienced and qualified Chef to join our kitchen team at our Gordon NSW location.
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to a high standard, maintaining food quality and presentation, assisting with menu preparation, managing kitchen operations during service, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food in accordance with menu specifications and established recipes.
- Plan and organise food preparation and cooking activities for daily service.
- Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch and other café menu items as required.
- Manage an allocated section of the kitchen during service.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented consistently and to the required standard.
- Assist with menu planning and development of recent dishes and specials.
- Assist with estimating food requirements and ordering food supplies.
- Receive, inspect and store food deliveries appropriately.
- Monitor stock levels and minimise food wastage.
- Maintain appropriate food preparation, storage and hygiene standards.
- Maintain food safety records, including temperature monitoring and cleaning schedules.
- Ensure compliance with relevant food safety,
hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients.
- Assist with stock rotation and kitchen inventory control.
- Supervise and provide guidance to kitchen hands and junior kitchen staff where required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient and timely service.
- Assist management with controlling food costs and reducing wastage.
- Perform other duties reasonably associated with the position of Chef.
Skills and Experience The successful applicant will have:
- A relevant trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent.
- At least 2–3 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen, café, restaurant or similar environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook a variety of menu items.
- Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen management requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly during busy service periods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation.
- Experience supervising or training junior kitchen staff will be highly regarded.
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
