Tomi Management Pty Ltd, trading as Tomism, is a Melbourne-based hospitality business operating and supporting a growing portfolio of hospitality venues.
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Chef to join our team on a full-time basis and contribute to the delivery of high-quality food and consistent kitchen operations.
About the Role
As a Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard, supporting day-to-day kitchen operations, maintaining food quality and safety standards, and assisting with menu planning, stock control and kitchen organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present dishes in accordance with established recipes, menus and quality standards.
- Plan and assist in developing menus in consultation with management and the kitchen team.
- Monitor the quality of dishes throughout preparation and presentation.
- Ensure appropriate portion control, presentation and consistency of food.
- Estimate food and ingredient requirements and assist with ordering and stock control.
- Monitor food costs, wastage and inventory levels.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients and other food supplies.
- Ensure food is stored, handled and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
- Assist with the development of kitchen procedures and preparation standards.
- Coordinate with other kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
- Assist in training and supervising junior kitchen staff where required.
- Work effectively with front-of-house and management teams to ensure efficient service.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance or operational issues as required.
Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate should have:
- Relevant Australian qualification in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent recognised qualification;
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen environment;
- Sound knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques;
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures;
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy hospitality environment;
- Strong organisational and time-management skills;
- Ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team; and
- Good communication skills.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $88,000.00 per year
