Compassion Australia is a purpose-driven (NFP) Christian organisation committed to releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. Working alongside sponsors, supporters and church partners, we help fund and strengthen local church-led child development programs in over 25 countries, creating lasting impact for children, families and communities.

About the Role

Reporting to the Church Team Manager (NSW/ACT), you’ll be responsible for developing and strengthening church partnerships across NSW, inviting them into a deeper expression of their mission by engaging in child sponsorship. You’ll spend your time connecting with pastors, church leaders and volunteers, identifying opportunities for new partnerships and helping existing partners grow in their engagement with Compassion.

You’ll also have opportunities to represent Compassion through church presentations, conferences, pastors’ gatherings and strategic partner travel. Our work will directly contribute to children being released from poverty in Jesus’ name, while empowering churches to live out the Gospel in a practical and transformative way.

Key Accountabilities

- Identify, activate and grow new church partnerships across Sydney and regional NSW.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with existing church partners and support them to deepen their engagement with Compassion.
- Identify and develop local initiatives that align with Compassion’s national strategy while responding to the needs of our church partners.
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Compassion presentations at churches,



conferences and pastors’ gatherings.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Compassion and the wider Strategic Partnerships team.
- Build strong relationships with Compassion’s volunteer presenter network across NSW.
- Participate in domestic or international travel with strategic partners where required, helping them gain a deeper understanding of Compassion’s work and global mission.

About you

You’re a relational and motivated person who can build genuine trust and relationships while also working strategically towards goals.

You understand the local church context and are comfortable communicating with a diverse range of people, from pastors and church leaders to volunteers and supporters. You’re confident sharing a vision, speaking publicly and turning conversations into meaningful partnerships.

The successful applicant will possess the following:

- An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- A proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships while working towards measurable goals.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills across diverse audiences.
- Experience in lead generation and developing new opportunities.
- Experience cultivating, nurturing and growing existing partnerships.
- In-depth knowledge and networks within the local church context;
- An understanding of global poverty and community development through a biblical lens.
- Confidence and experience speaking in churches, conferences, pastors’ gatherings and other public settings.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- A track record of achieving or exceeding goals and targets.
- A deep commitment to Christ,



the local church and Compassion’s mission.

Desirable

- Experience in Christian Organisations;
- Experience, understanding and established relationships in Pentecostal church networks in NSW
- Knowledge of philanthropic and fundraising landscape;
- Experience in For Purpose sector;
- Theological training and/or qualifications.
