We’re Hiring | Senior Azure Cloud Architect / Engineer

Location: Australia-wide / Canberra, ACT

Working Arrangement: Remote arrangements considered case-by-case

Contract: 12 months up to 2 × 12-month extensions

Hours: Up to 40 hours per week

Security: Must be eligible to obtain Australian Government Baseline clearance

Level: Senior / EL1 equivalent

SkyDB is seeking experienced Senior Azure Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers to support a range of ICT projects within an Australian Government environment. We’re looking for senior cloud professionals with 5 years of experience who can combine strong Microsoft Azure expertise with architecture, engineering, automation and technical leadership. Candidates may have a stronger background in either Cloud Architecture or Cloud Engineering, although professionals who can demonstrate capability across both architecture and hands-on engineering will be particularly well suited.

About the Role You’ll work across enterprise and application-level cloud environments, helping design, implement and evolve secure, scalable Microsoft Azure and M365 solutions.

Key responsibilities include

- Develop enterprise-level Azure and Microsoft 365 cloud architectures
- Design high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems
- Provide detailed architecture and implementation guidance to cloud engineers
- Contribute hands-on technical expertise to the design and delivery of Azure solutions
- Perform technical impact analysis against business and stakeholder requirements
- Support platform automation, testing, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
- Design secure Azure networking, identity and access solutions




- Integrate Azure platforms with enterprise and third-party systems
- Work with business owners, developers, architects, BAs, Scrum Masters and testers
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and Whole-of-Government standards
- Mentor team members and provide technical leadership across project delivery

What We’re Looking For You’ll ideally bring:

- 5 years’ experience implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies
- Strong Microsoft Azure architecture and/or engineering experience
- Experience developing enterprise and application-level cloud architectures
- Robust understanding of cloud security,



networking and identity
- Experience with Azure DevOps, IaC and CI/CD
- Experience working within Agile multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work effectively with geographically dispersed teams
- Strong stakeholder communication across technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to mentor others and provide technical guidance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to adapt as project requirements and priorities evolve

Highly Desirable

- Demonstrated technical leadership experience
- Application and integration architecture experience
- Infrastructure/platform architecture experience
- 3 years designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise environments
- AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform experience

Security Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.

A current clearance is not mandatory at the time of application. However, successful candidates must be able to obtain Baseline within the required timeframe following commencement.

Location & Remote Working Candidates from across Australia may be considered.

Remote arrangements are available case-by-case and subject to business requirements. Candidates may also be required to travel to Canberra occasionally for planning and other initiatives.
