Community & Events Intern

We're looking for a Community & Events Intern to join the team at IRL by Amber.

This role is ideal for someone who loves bringing people together, creating memorable experiences, and being at the heart of Australia's startup ecosystem. You'll help plan, organise and deliver events while supporting community engagement and capturing content that showcases what we're building.

No two weeks are the same. One day you might be helping run a founder dinner, the next interviewing attendees, welcoming guests, coordinating logistics, growing our slack or helping launch our next community initiative.

IRL by Amber is a startup events brand and community, bringing together some of the top minds in tech and startups across APAC. We host curated events, build meaningful communities, and create opportunities for founders, operators, investors, CXOs and ambitious professionals to connect in real life.

This is a hands-on internship where your work will directly contribute to events, partnerships, community growth and experiences seen by thousands of people across our ecosystem.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with planning and delivering startup events, dinners, workshops and community experiences
- Welcome attendees, assist with check-in, and help create a memorable guest experience
- Coordinate event logistics before, during and after events
- Support speaker, sponsor and partner coordination where required
- Engage with community members online and in person
- Help grow and nurture our Slack community and other community channels
- Capture behind-the-scenes content, event photos and short-form videos for social media
- Interview attendees and capture founder stories and community moments




- Assist with newsletters, event promotion and community campaigns
- Help identify opportunities to improve our events and member experience
- Attend a 20-minute daily stand-up and weekly team check-in
- Take ownership of tasks and communicate proactively if priorities or timelines need to shift

- Is comfortable capturing simple photo and video content on a phone
- Receives feedback well and enjoys learning

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable using Google Workspace, Notion or similar collaboration tools
- Experience organising events, volunteering or running communities is a bonus
- Comfortable creating basic social media content (photos, Reels or TikToks)
- Interest in startups,



technology, events, marketing or community building
- Currently studying or recently graduated in marketing, communications, business, events, media or a related field is desirable but not required

TIME COMMITMENT

Approximately 15 hours per week.

Interns participate in a 20-minute daily stand-up to align on priorities and share progress.
