We are seeking a Community Engagement Officer join our headspace team in Tweed Heads on a part-time fixed term basis until June 2027.

What You'll Be Doing

- Support the design and implementation of the annual headspace Community Awareness and Engagement Plan
- Establish and maintain strong, purposeful relationships with schools, youth services, community organisations, health services and other key stakeholders, including attending meetings and interagencies.
- Plan, coordinate and deliver engaging workshops, presentations, community events and youth-focused initiatives that connect young people with mental health information, support and opportunities to participate.
- Support meaningful youth participation by coordinating the headspace Youth Reference Group, creating opportunities for young people to contribute to organisational decision-making
- Develop and maintain engaging, accurate and skilled promotional and digital content across social media, websites and other communication channels in accordance with Social Futures and headspace requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate engagement activities, using feedback,



participation data and community insights to continually improve our approach.
- Champion inclusive engagement practices that encourage participation from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, LGBTIQSB+ communities, and people experiencing social disadvantage.
- Demonstrate Social Futures values through everyday communication, decision-making, relationships and professional conduct.

What We're Looking For

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or experience in community or youth engagement, health promotion, public health or community engagement and/or capacity building activities
- Demonstrated highly developed communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral) with the ability to engage and communicate sensitively and effectively with Young People and their families, funding bodies, schools, communities, and stakeholders.
- Ability to facilitate presentations, workshops and groups.
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating community projects, communication and engagement strategies within allocated budgets and timeframes.
- Demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of young people from a range of social and cultural backgrounds and with diverse gender and sexual identities
- Strong organisational, time management and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, events and competing priorities within deadlines




- Alignment with Social Futures values, demonstrated through communication, decision making and showing up for Young People, the community and your team.
- Current driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the local community as required.
