Data Analyst – Databricks / SQL

Canberra | Hybrid | Baseline Clearance Required

$95–$110 per hour incl. super We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to support a Federal Government team responsible for school data production, reporting and analytics.

This role will suit someone with solid SQL capability, experience working with complex datasets, and practical exposure to Databricks, PySpark or Spark SQL.

You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to analyse and reconcile data, investigate quality issues, translate reporting requirements into analytical solutions and support repeatable reporting processes.

Key responsibilities

- Analyse and reconcile complex administrative and reporting datasets
- Translate business and reporting requirements into data specifications and analytical outputs
- Develop SQL and PySpark transformations, validation rules and repeatable reports
- Undertake data profiling, reconciliation, quality assurance and anomaly investigation
- Develop documented business rules and fit-for-purpose analytical datasets
- Support annual reporting, BAU activities and ad hoc data requests
- Prepare technical and analytical documentation




- Support stakeholder engagement, knowledge transfer and ongoing team capability

The role forms part of a broader transition to a Databricks-based analytics platform. Essential experience

- Advanced SQL capability
- Experience analysing complex administrative, government or similar datasets
- Working knowledge of Databricks, PySpark and/or Spark SQL
- Strong experience in data profiling, reconciliation, validation and quality assurance
- Ability to translate business requirements into data specifications, reports and reusable analytical outputs
- Strong stakeholder engagement, documentation and written communication skills

EligibilityApplicants must:

- Be able to work from the Canberra office under hybrid arrangements
- Hold a current Baseline security clearance or higher

Contract: 12 October 2026 to 30 June 2027

Extension: Possible 6-month extension

Rate: $95–$110 per hour including superannuation Apply
