Disability Support Worker – Casual

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide individualised support based on each participant’s goals, preferences and support needs. No two shifts are the same, and your role may include supporting participants with daily living, personal care, community participation, appointments, household activities and developing greater independence. We are seeking team members who understand that quality disability support is about more than completing tasks — it is about promoting choice, control, dignity, independence and meaningful participation.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties may include:

- Providing assistance with activities of daily living and personal care
- Supporting participants with social and community participation
- Assisting participants to attend appointments, activities and community events
- Supporting the development of independent living and capacity-building skills
- Meal preparation and assistance with household tasks
- Providing safe transportation and community access
- Supporting participants with medication in accordance with their support plans and organisational procedures
- Following individual support plans, behaviour support plans, risk assessments and health-related plans
- Supporting participants with complex needs where appropriately trained
- Completing accurate progress notes, incident reports and other required documentation
- Recognising and reporting changes in a participant's health, wellbeing or behaviour




- Maintaining professional boundaries and participant confidentiality
- Working collaboratively with participants, families, guardians, colleagues and other professionals
- Following NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Code of Conduct and Best Life Disability Services policies and procedures.

About You

We are looking for people who are reliable, respectful, patient and genuinely passionate about supporting people with disability. You will be able to build positive professional relationships while recognising that every participant is an individual with their own goals, preferences and right to make choices about their life.

You will also need to be comfortable working independently, following established support plans and communicating promptly with management when concerns arise.

Essential Requirements

Successful applicants will be required to hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain, relevant screening and compliance requirements applicable to their role, which may include:

- Certificate 3 or higher in Individual Support, or willingness to obtain
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check where required
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current Australian driver's licence




- Medication Certification
- Reliable and appropriately insured vehicle
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Appropriate qualifications and/or demonstrated disability support experience
- Ability to use electronic systems for rostering, progress notes and incident reporting.

Additional training may be required depending on participant needs, including, manual handling, positive behaviour support and high-intensity supports.

Availability

We provide supports across a range of days and times, including weekdays, evenings, weekends and public holidays. We particularly value applicants who can offer flexible and consistent availability and are willing to build ongoing relationships with participants rather than only accepting occasional shifts.
